The library is quiet when Seo-jin sees the email. A book-restoration workshop in Busan would like to meet her on Monday. She has spent years repairing torn pages at the returns desk; this would be her first chance to learn the craft properly. The last train with an affordable seat leaves on Sunday afternoon.
Then her phone lights up. Her mother has sent a photograph of the flickering light above the family shop: “Will you come by on Sunday?” Seo-jin cannot tell whether this is about the light. She leaves the train page open beside the email and turns her phone over. Before closing the library, she needs to make one move.
